BYD Breaks Sales Records Again As Demand For EVs Grow

China's BYD has sold a record 274,386 vehicles in August, up nearly 5% vs. July's 262,161. Out of the 173,977 passenger vehicles, the China EV and battery giant sold 145,627 all-electric BEVs and 128,459 PHEVs, which means 53% of cars BYD sold were BEVs and 46% PHEVs. The Shenzhen-based carmaker rewrote its monthly delivery record for a fourth consecutive month in August 2023.The sales of BYD’s New Energy Vehicles (NEV) continued to rank first in the world with increasing market share and expanding brand influence. BYD has sold 1,792,184 NEVs so far this year, up 83% from January-August 2022. BYD seeks to sell at least seeks to sell at least 3 million vehicles in 2023.

BYD’s new energy vehicles have now made a mark in over 54 countries including Nepal, with the BYD Atto 3, one of its standout models, leading NEV sales in Thailand, Israel, and Singapore for several months. BYD also announced it exported 25,023 vehicles, more than double what it shipped two months ago in June. The Chinese carmaker is also rapidly entering Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

Cimex Inc, the sole authorised distributor for BYD Auto in Nepal, offers the BYD Atto 3 and second-gen BYD e6 in the Nepalese market. The Atto 3 electric SUV is available in two battery pack options (49.94 kWh and 60.48 kWh) in a total of four variants.  The Atto 3 starts at Rs 55.99 Lakh for the advanced variant and goes up to Rs 81.99 Lakh for the performance variant. Similarly, the second-gen e6 which features a 71.7 kWh battery pack is priced at Rs 59 Lakh.
